The purpose of the Energy Efficiency programme is to accelerate a shift towards a resource, and particularly an EE society. The programme consists of six focus areas.

12L Tax Incentive Certificates

Run 12L Projects to assist companies to obtain 12L Tax Certificates.

Development of a user guide on mandatory Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and Compulsory Energy Efficiency Labelling.

Provide a guideline with accessible and reliable information to inform Stakeholders regarding mandatory MEPS to improve compliance, and safeguard the sector against energy inefficient and grey imports.

World Trade Organisation (WTO) Public Forum 27-30 September 2022: Geneva, Switzerland

Participate in a panel at the WTO forum charting a possible path for advancing EE in ICT products, while avoiding the non-tariff barriers to trade that result from misaligned National and Regional Policies and programmes.

Complete preliminary cost benefit analysis of televisions on residential demand.

Develop standards to improve the energy performance of televisions manufactured in, and imported into South Africa. Include an EE label to guide consumer buying choices.

Launch the National Standards and Labelling Guideline.

Launch of the National Standards and Labelling Guideline at the 17th Annual Southern African Energy Efficiency Confederation (SAEEC) Conference.
